OUR STORY

SILVERHAND ESTATE

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Kent countryside, Silverhand Estate is a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and rich heritage. It is defining the new rules of English sparkling wine, having established the largest single organic vineyard in the UK, covering an area of more than 500 acres.

Located in Luddesdown, Kent – Silverhand takes its name from King Ludd – a first century King of the Trinovantes, founder of London and God of Protection and Prosperity.

Losing his hand in battle, he was stripped of his rank and position until a Silverhand was made for him…

More recently we have established the largest single vineyard in the UK, spanning the beautiful countryside in the heart of Kent.

SUSTAINABLE AND ETHICAL PRACTICES

We are proud to be situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and we are passionate about protecting our environment and the land in which we reside. Our dedicated conservation team work tirelessly across our estate, throughout the year, to ensure the flora and fauna are able to thrive whilst working in harmony with our vineyards.

ORGANIC FARMING

Our organic farming methods are a sustainable and healthy approach to agriculture that prioritises the health of the soil, the environment, and those who enjoy our wine.

Livestock are incorporated into our organic farm providing benefits such as grazing, fertilisation, and pest control. Our sheep consist of, rare and local breed, Jacobs and, Kentish breed, Romneys. They graze between the vines ensuring optimal length for harvest and bud burst, whilst also helping the health of the soil.

We also raise a rare breed of English Longhorns that help with regenerative farming. They break up the soil on our pastures to remove unwanted growth and fertilise the land.
